Speaker: Darryl Brumfield

(Key text: Matthew 4: 18 -22, Matthew 9:10-13, Matthew 14:14-19 )

How did they turn the world upside down and be come a part of a God sized movement?

They didn't turn the world upside down because they were taught how to fish for men; they turned the world upside down because they were transformed into fishers of men.(Matthew 4: 18 -22)

Jesus wants our hearts to become the nets, to be a fisher of men we must…

  1. Search the scriptures, and discover what they mean not just what they say. (Matthew 9:10-13)
  2. Understand that ministry …. (Matthew 14:14-19)
    1. Is not about personal convenience.
    2. Must be holistic.
    3. Performed with no strings attached.

Matthew 4: 18 -22 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee , he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.   20 At once they left their nets and followed him. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,     22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Matthew 9:9-13 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. Follow me, he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. 10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'? 12 On hearing this, Jesus said, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

Matthew 14:14-19   When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. 15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so that they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food. 16 Jesus replied, They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.   17 We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish, they answered. 18 Bring them here to me, he said.     19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the

Acts 17 These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;  7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

John 1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter
