Communi-Tea is Steeping

The long-awaited Part Two of Japanese Tea has arrived!

Join us this October for a casual variation of the Japanese TeaCeremony, where we’ll continue our journey into the rich history, artistry, and spiritual significance of Japanese tea.

Together, we’ll explore the history of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, consider some of the beautiful parallels with the Eucharist, and get hands-on as we endeavor the art of preparing matcha.

Our theme is Tea as Worship. As we gather around the tea table, we’ll consider:

• What does it mean to turn an ordinary action into an act of worship?

• What parallels do you notice between the Japanese TeaCeremony and the Eucharist?

• How might slowing down become a spiritual practice?

• Where are you noticing God’s presence in the ordinary rhythms of your life?

Whether you’re new to Japanese tea or a longtime lover, there is something here for you. Come ready to learn, taste, create, and perhaps experience a familiar cup of tea in a new way.
